BEAD Supporting Funds are allocations that allow states to redirect non-deployment dollars toward infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity, workforce development, and advanced technologies.
Eligible uses include redundant power systems, edge computing nodes, physical security upgrades, and quantum-resistant encryption. These investments reduce operational costs, improve reliability, and strengthen national security. States may either return unused funds to the Treasury or invest them in resilience frameworks that prioritize protection value and economic impact.
Supporting Funds reflect congressional intent to evolve broadband into globally competitive, self-defending infrastructure that sustains the digital and AI economy.
