Build America Buy America

Build America Buy America Banner Image

Build America Buy America (BABA) are the federal requirements mandating that BEAD-funded infrastructure projects use domestic materials, products, and components to strengthen American manufacturing and supply chains. BABA applies to iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in project infrastructure, requiring detailed sourcing documentation and compliance verification throughout deployment.

Subgrantees must obtain domestic preference waivers for any foreign components, demonstrating unavailability, unreasonable cost, or inconsistency with public interest.

Compliance requires sophisticated supply chain tracking systems to document origin, processing, and final assembly location for every project component from cables to cabinets.
