A Micro Data Center is a compact, integrated facility that provides computing, storage, and networking resources in distributed locations. Designed for edge computing, micro data centers place processing close to end users to reduce latency and improve performance for real-time services such as AI, autonomous systems, and advanced applications.

These facilities typically occupy less than 200 square feet and include environmental controls and remote management capabilities scaled to local needs. They can be deployed in settings such as retail locations, cell towers, utility substations, or purpose-built edge sites.

Micro data centers form the “process” and “store” components of Ready’s three-legged stool model, complementing broadband networks to build a complete digital infrastructure fabric.
