Budget Period

Budget Period Banner Image

A defined segment of a multi-year federal grant during which specific funds must be obligated and spent. Oklahoma's RHTP is divided into five budget periods from December 29, 2025 through October 30, 2030. Unspent funds roll forward one year but must be spent by the end of the following fiscal year or revert to the U.S. Treasury. Up to 10% of funds may be used for administrative costs.

Budget period structure shapes the pace and planning of infrastructure deployment, and understanding it is critical for vendors seeking to participate in RHTP-funded procurement. The compressed first budget period (only 10 months, ending October 30, 2026) creates urgency for states to move quickly from planning to procurement, favoring vendors with proven products and existing state relationships.
